The Coming Backlash Against the GOP

If the Rethuglicans thought they had their asses handed to them in 2006 and 2008, they haven’t seen anything yet:

Judge Sonia Sotomayor picked up another Republican vote Wednesday, but supporters from both parties said the underwhelming GOP support for the nation’s first Latina Supreme Court nominee could produce a political backlash.

“This is not a helpful moment for Republicans among Hispanics,” said Florida’s Sen. Mel Martinez, one of seven Republicans who have committed to vote for Sotomayor.

As always, the GOP is on the wrong side of the American people — an increasing number of whom are Hispanic and Latino. Not exactly a good idea to alienate the country’s fastest growing-constituency. Then again, the Rushpublicans have been out of good ideas for decades.
